How do you eat caviar?
The first step to eating caviar is to select your caviar. If you are selecting caviar for the first time, look for a Grade 1 caviar to get eggs that are consistent with their firm texture and high-quality flavor.

Once you have purchased your caviar, it should be served chilled. The eggs can be very cold before reaching a freezing point and are often served by placing the tin in a bowl and then placing that bowl inside a larger bowl filled with ice. It's important to never serve your premium caviar with a metal bowl or utensil. We recommend the most traditional mother of pearl serving spoon.

You should start with small portions of the caviar, no more than two small spoonful (less than 2 oz.) so that you can allow the eggs to sit and enjoy the feeling of the small beads on your tongue. Allow yourself to savor the beads without chewing in order to extract the luxurious buttery flavor from the caviar.

If you have any leftover, opened caviar, you can store it but eat it in 24-48 hours to preserve the quality. In order to store it, cover the original tin with an airtight plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator's coldest area. You might even pack it in ice if your refrigerator doesn't run below 32 degrees.

What should be served with Caviar?

Caviar is a delicious addition to many meals and recipes. The most common accoutrements include creme fraiche, lemon wedges, hard boiled eggs, or minced onions. A traditional Russian serving may include blini, a small buckwheat pancake and a high-quality Russian vodka, which can serve as a neutral palate cleanser. It's also popularly served with champagne, and if you select a champagne we recommend a "brut" or "extra brut" but not an "extra-dry" to get the best possible flavor pairing.
